'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

It's evident why Arsenal have become countless pundits' favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's backline resilience is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title target.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their danger from dead balls is widely recognized, but rival sides still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their traditional rivals aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and determination.
