Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
